The prestigious honor, given annually by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation, recognizes work by, for, or about women in television, radio, and online media on the national, local, and student level.

UA Students Participate in Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference
Nearly 500 students at The University of Alabama highlighted their research and creative projects during the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference on March 27. The 12th annual conference is hosted by UA's Office for Undergraduate Research and the Office for Research and Economic Development. Poster presentations are grouped by research areas -- instead of by academic colleges or departments -- to align with national trends of using interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving. The conference spurs interest in research among undergraduate students and helps students polish their communication skills, said Dr. Kim Bissell, director of the Office for Undergraduate Research. "We have got some pretty phenomenal students who are truly doing great things," she said.

Agronomy Club at Iowa State University sees success at ASA Conference
Members of the Agronomy Club at Iowa State University traveled to Baltimore, Maryland, November 4-7, 2018 to attend the American Society of Agronomy (ASA) conference, the undergraduate part of Students of Agronomy, Soils, and Environmental Studies (SASES). Highlights include elected national officers, Quiz Bowl and crops competitions, research posters, and scholar announcements.

Marching Royal Dukes represent JMU in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
The James Madison University marching band, the Marching Royal Dukes, will be marching in the 92nd annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, their fourth appearance in the holiday classic. Marching 535 strong, the Marching Royal Dukes are the largest in the parade and one of only three college bands invited.

Nearly 250 University of Alabama students are receiving hands-on, innovative and advanced educational experience with dozens of companies and organizations across the United States through UA's Cooperative Education Program for summer 2018. In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student, experience that enhances the students' employment prospects after graduation. While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience. Participants maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.

Iowa State University Crops Team sweeps NACTA
The Iowa State University Crops Team took first place in the crops contest at the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Judging Contest held at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska on April 21, 2018. This is the fifth time in the last six years the crops team from Iowa State has been in the top spot. In addition, Iowa State took home the Overall Sweepstakes Award for the fourth year in a row. Teams from across the College of Agriculture of Life Sciences competed in seven competitions to take the sweepstakes award.

Iowa State University Crops Team takes second in Kansas City and Chicago
The Iowa State University Crops Team won second place at the American Royal crops competition in Kansas City on November 14 and again at the CME Contest in Chicago on November 16. These contests represent the national finals of collegiate crops competition for the year. During the contest, students identified plants and seeds along with insects and crop diseases, took a written exam similar to the Certified Crop Advisor Exam, and completed agronomic math problems.
